Subject: You Are Invited To Attend - Cyber Stalking Town Hall, Saturday, November 15, 2008

Greetings to Everyone,

Below is an invitation from the Mayor's Office to attend an important Town Hall Meeting which affects all residents of the City of Albuquerque. Please pass this information to your association's mailing distribution list - everyone is invited to attend.

Cyber Stalking Town Hall

Saturday, November 15, 2008

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Don Newton/Taylor Ranch Community Center

4900 Kachina Street NW

(Montano Road NW and Kachina Street NW)

One of the most disturbing crimes against our youth is Cyber Stalking. A recent USA Today story revealed that, nationwide, there are over 600,000 unique computer trafficking child pornography cases over the Internet. Discussing this issue with the Albuquerque Police Department and Sandia Lab staff, Mayor Martin J. Chávez has become aware how important it is for parents to have the right tools and information in preventing this crime from victimizing their children. Mayor Chávez is pleased to announce the formation of a partnership with the Albuquerque Police Department, Sandia Labs and the Albuquerque Public Schools to combat Cyber Stalking.

The City of Albuquerque will be conducting a Town Hall on Saturday, November 15, 2008 beginning at 11 a.m. The event will be at the Don Newton/Taylor Ranch Community Center located at 4900 Kachina Street NW.

The Town Hall will have members from the Albuquerque Police Department, City Legal Department, Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, APD Crimes Against Children Unit, Albuquerque Public Schools and Sandia Labs.

Topics will include:

Ø In-Depth discussion of Cyber Stalking

Ø Cyber Stalking of Children and Young Adults

Ø How to Report Cyber Crime

Ø How to Protect Against Cyber Stalking

Ø What to Do If You Are a Victim

Please R.S.V.P. to the Mayor's Office at 505-768-3000 with the number of people planning to attend from your neighborhood and/or homeowner association.

Questions regarding this Town Hall, please call the Mayor's Office at 505-768-3000. We look forward to seeing you at the Town Hall on the 15th of November from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Have a good one.
