Bambi, please pass this along. Below is the message I sent to our NA and District 8 Coalition. However, at our MPRAB meeting, Director Hart indicated that the trees were larger this year at about 30-36 inches high. He also indicated that he thought that Desert Willow would be available. I suggest that anyone wanting more information call the numbers listed or go to the city web site. Regards, Don

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Another tree give-away is coming up on the 18th. Please note that these are very small trees (usually about 18 inches high) but most, especially some of the pines, grow quite fast. Note also that there do not seem to be any Desert Willow trees in the 11 varieties named.

Regards, Don

Tree New Mexico Announces Partnership with

Mayor Martin J. Chávez to Giveaway 5,000 Trees

Albuquerque, NM - Tree New Mexico is partnering with the Mayor's Urban Forestry Initiative to increase the tree canopy in residential areas of the city.

Mayor Martin J. Chávez and the City of Albuquerque desire to make the city a healthier and economically viable place to live while protecting and improving the environment. We recognize that trees are the primary environmental tool to reduce, prevent, and remediate greenhouse gasses, heat island effects, and buffer the effects of rapid climate change. Trees pay us back in residential and public areas providing the greatest environmental benefits while improving property values and neighborhood appearance, increasing walkability and pedestrian safety, and providing recreational opportunities.
