[NENA] whistleblowing

Dear Members of NENA,

Don't be afraid to report your neighbor abusing their water!!! We need to protect whistleblowers as whistleblowers are the necessary checks and balances. For example, our community park at Nor Este
will only last as long as people living in Nor Este don't abuse their watering of their front and back lawns.
For example, VP of Nor Este waters his lawn every single day!!! This water abuse is not a good example of a Board Member of Nor Este. It is like Cummins from the Water Board being busted for over watering.

Last year, the State Elections Chief, Daniel Ivy Soto (who had been just recently appointed), admitted
that while he was a criminal defense attorney that several of his clients reported to him admitting voter
fraud, of voting more than once. Ivy Soto cited the attorney-client rights. Well, as you can imagine,
voter fraud is serious business. So, whether it is a member of a Task Force being bought or influenced
to vote not in the interest of the people who elected him to power in the first place, or whether it is a
person unwilling to report the very essence of our democracy- voting and refusing to report voter fraud-
well, there is a consequence. Ivy-Soto resigned as State Elections in February 2008. What I find interesting
is that how could the State Elections man say that while an attorney he didn't want to report voter fraud
admitted to him by his clients because he didn't want the spotlight on him and thought it would harm his
career in moving up the career ladder. Well, now realize it is this very same attitude that prevents other
people from coming forward, too. I noticed that prior to the Board getting rid of the Nor Este newsletter that
the Rape Crisis Center had an AD in the paper. Well, it is no wonder why there are so many unreported rapes
in Albuquerque, because women don't want to be the center of attention and have the spotlight put upon
them.

Don't be afraid to report water abuse, voter fraud (which is the essence of our democracy) or any other
abuse. Silence is oppression.
