BRIEF MINUTES OF THE 2/18/09 D4 COALITION
of NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS MEETING
Guest speaker was Sgt. Eric Jordan, APD NE Area Command. Sgt. Jordan answered numerous questions fromth membership regarding crime concerns and problems they are experiencing, eg., 4 homes broken into in Del Rey between 8 Am and 4 PM, plus one in the evening, speeding thru neighborhoods including dump trucks, and vandalism. Property crimes appear to be on the increase. Sgt. Jordan encouraged everyone to call the station if they notice any suspicious vehicles "casing" the neighborhood or unknown people strolling in and checking the neighborhood. DON'T leave garage doors open.
D4 pres. noted that Neighborhood Associations are invited to attend a meeting discussing possible conversion of the Phillips Building for Mixed Use.
After close of the current legislature session, our legislators will be invited to our April meeting to discuss results of the session and answer questions from D4 members. members are urged to prepare and bring suggested questions to the March meeting for discussion and consolidation.
Diana Trujeque filled in for Councilman Brad Winter who was at a Special Council meeting. She reported that the I-25 Sector Plan which was unanimously approved by the EPC some time ago, has still not been heard by the City Council because Brad has been unable to find a Councilman to introduce it. Diana will report on any progress. The Mayor's proposed Task Force to re-look at the ONC Charter still has not gotten off the ground.
The Council and the City Administration are focusing efforts on dealing with the Budget shortfall and the impact of the "Stimulus Package".
Three D4 Committee assignments were proposed and unanimously voted in.
1. Community Outreach
2. North Domingo Baca
3. Hospitality
Adjourned at 9:10 PM
Respectfully Submitted
