BRIEF MINUTES OF THE March 18th DISTRICT 4
COALITION OF NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS MEETING
Captain Henz has retired and Captain Beth Paiz is our new APD NE Area Commander. Her e-mail is epaiz at cabq.gov<mailto:epaiz at cabq.gov> .
The secretary notified members of a letter informing everyone that Census officers will commence the census next month.
The Treasurer reported that our PO box fees for the year are $ 70 /year.
The President briefly discussed the meeting at the Phillips building regarding proposals for uses for the facility. Renovation is scheduled for mid 2010 for proposed office/retail uses.
Regarding the D4 efforts concerning Community Outreach, there has been no progress in trying to identify distribution centers which can serve the far NE area. Suggestions include use of schools, and the possible use of an empty Mobile Home for storage and distribution. The committee will continue to investigate .
City Councilman Brad Winter reported that Diana had surgery for cancer. Fortunately, it had not gone to the lymph nodes. Diana is home recovering and may need some additional surgery to remove surrounding area cells
and preclude any repeat. D4 voted to send Diana an appropriate gift and our best wishes.
Brad noted that 4 million is identified in the budget for the Multi-generational Center and another 1 million is included for the park. In addition, as with each Council member, Brad has 1 million to spend for the needs of his district. Part of this will be used for the Park/Multi-Generational Center. Other budget items noted include
Alameda to Wyoming widening and the I-25/Paseo interchange which is a priority item.
The long languishing I-25 Sector Plan will finally be introduced to the Council by Councilor O'Malley.
Brad asked D4 direction regarding funding the proposed Wading Pool at Tingley Beach. Opposition of D4 was unanimous and Brad will vote to oppose. Brad also agreed to look into the dangerous curve on San Antonio West of Wyoming which has no lights or warning indicator.
As in previous years, all D4 State Legislators will be invited to attend a D4 meeting, report on the actions or lack there-of of the current Legislative Session, and participate in a Q & A session. Invitations will be sent out after an appropriate date is determined.
Under new business, there was some discussion about supporting "Bears for Kids" at hospitals. Each NA is to ask their Board to decide if they want to donate and report back to D4. D4 will continue discussion at the April
meeting.
D4 is looking into a possible new meeting space as the one in Fire Station 20 is too crowded. Arroyo del Oso Community Center has been suggested.
Cherry Hills NA reported that on April 8, from 5:30-8:30 PM they have scheduled a session with NM State and Federal legislators at the La Cueva Performing Arts Center. Everyone, including the Media, is invited.
Meeting Adjourned at 9:12 PM
Respectfully submitted
Joe Yardumian, NorEste Rep to D4
